copywriting.
branding.
storytelling.

Whether you’re after fresh website copy that seamlessly turns window shoppers into loyal brand advocates, an e-newsletter that romances your clients, an expert pair of eyes to proof an award submission, a drool-worthy media release to launch a new product or some other written enigma - I’ll help you get the stuff in your head into words that connect and convert.

Kia ora, I’m Laura. I help small (and large) businesses build a brand, share their story, master their content marketing game plan and connect with their audience through hella good copywriting.

Let’s face it - no one wants to work with a rookie, so here’s my little backstory…

I grew up in a small country town in the mighty Waikato, and armed with a Bachelor of Communication Studies (First Class Hons) degree, I dabbled in events at the Hamilton City Council (rugby games, conferences, Nitro Circus and all that jazz) before buying a one-way ticket to Melbourne.

Leading the national communications strategy for the Australian Retailers Association and becoming editor of The Retailer industry mag sparked my love for copywriting and innovative campaigns, but I’d always wanted to experience agency life - so after a few years I made the switch to a boutique PR and content marketing agency where I got to plot, plan and pitch with the best of them. Managing accounts across the lifestyle, property, technology and not-for-profit sectors (representing Guide Dogs Victoria was a highlight, because #puppies) was an epic experience, but like all good Kiwis, the time came to clip a massive Macpac on my back and eat my way through Europe for a few months.

Eventually, I could hear Aotearoa calling my name. As much as I loved Melbourne’s rooftop bars, erratic weather and endless variations of chicken parmas, I was excited to land in Auckland where I put my comms skills to work in one of New Zealand’s top consumer PR agencies, largely focused on the travel, food and wine, entertainment and not-for-profit sectors. In 2017, my inner hippie knew I belonged near the ocean, so I swapped big city lights for bare feet and beach walks in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty, and launched Tide Studio.

When I’m not writing, strategising and creating on behalf of others, I’m indulging my love of storytelling through feature articles for UNO and Our Place magazines. I’m also proud as punch to be the Editorial Director of Ora Health & Wellness - a social enterprise and beautiful quarterly national magazine empowering young Kiwis to live healthier, happier lives,

There’s nothing better than a good story, right? If you’d like a hand telling yours, give us a buzz.
